"Speaking of Chance" is an audiovisual show by André Gonçalves, Lloyd Cole and Luís Fernandes, whose absolute premiere takes place in Guimarães.
The use of the term "randomness" in the context of musical composition has been disseminated on 20th and 21st century music through names such as John Cage, Pierre Boulez, Brian Eno or Morton Feldman. However W.A. Mozart, in a way, used this concept in his improvisations. It is this inheritance that serves as a basic idea for "Speaking of Chance", an audiovisual show by André Gonçalves, Lloyd Cole and Luís Fernandes. Operating on a stage of modular synthesizers, the trio uses techniques of controlled randomness to sculpt an immersive and ethereal sound universe based on rhythmic, harmonic and melodic patterns generated by the machines according to the limitations imposed on them. Chance will try to ensure an outcome as unique as unrepeatable.
