Index is interested in exploring artistic practices and critical thinking in which technology takes a central role. The 2022 edition of Index will thematically explore the notion of the Surface. Whether as visual platforms or tactile entities, borders or interfaces, zones of emergence or extraction, surfaces represent vital elements in human or natural ecosystems. They are also powerful metaphors for artistic practices relating to technology, raising important questions that urgently need to be addressed.

More than a transposition of conventional works and presentation formats to the virtual domain, we seek proposals that explore the possibilities and specificities of the online ecosystem as a platform for the exhibition and creation of artworks.
