      Marfox

A proud descendant of São Tomé and Príncipe native parents, Marlon Silva (1988) adopted the name Marfox from the Nintendo video game 'Starfox'. Standing out from an early age as a vibrant reference in Lisbon's ghetto suburban fabric and inspired by the Angolan kuduro movement which arrived in Portugal in the early 90's, Marfox is now recognized as one of the pioneers of Afro-Portuguese electronic dance music. He was one of the founders of the Príncipe Discos label and movement and remains one of its brightest ambassadors. His unique vision of baroque and rhythmically expansive techno imbued with Garage, Bass and Beat has captivated audiences and critics alike with titles on record labels such as Boomkat Records, Enchufada, Lit City Trax and Warp Records. In addition to the continuous tour playing around the world, his resume includes an impressive list of remixes (tUnE-yArDs, Capicua, Panda Bear, Elza Soares, Fever Ray, among many others) or the commissioning of original music for artist Natascha Sadr Haghighian's installation in the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2019.
