Imaginary Friends is a film-performance in which the public is invited to watch the projection of a film, in the editing phase, which is sounded live in a foley studio *. A speculation about what cinema might be, taking advantage of one of the most used devices for the construction of the illusion of truth.

The film proposes to disappoint the viewer, preventing him from forgetting the unreality and tricks of cinema magic, by making him believe that everything is true. An amateur director and three non-professional foley performers make the film a score. While the performers' gesture seeks in a literal and obsessive way the noises that interfere with things and beings in the film, what we see is the dismantling of illusion, exposing the mechanisms of lying.

The director takes advantage of the opportunity to play with the possibilities, experimenting with narrations, which oscillate between the world told in small and playful stories and the world commented on in the outburst of a restless editor. The nature of images and sounds is built from a collection of notes, between the daily and the fictional, in a counterpoint between image-film and image-performance. As in a neo-cubist space, the truth is freed from a perceptual automatism, opening the way at random and evoking ghosts - the imaginary friends.

* Foley (or Bruitage) is a technique for creating sound effects recorded in the studio, where sounds of steps, closing doors, thunder, etc., are reproduced by sound engineers in sync with the film, with the aim of giving more realism to the scenes.
