Open Call: Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio’s 2019
Since 13 September until 21 October, Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio, together with the City of Sapporo, invite artists in the field of media arts and visual arts to take part in an open call for its winter residency program.
Four selected artists will stay 60 days at the municipal facility for artist in residence from 5 January to 5 March 2019. In their encounters with culture in Sapporo as well as exchange with locals, artists will be invited to develop and explore their ideas through work based on the theme “Winter, Snow, and the Subarctic”.
This Subprogram is directed to artists from 13 UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts and in Artist-in-School Subprogram, a primary school classroom will serve as the artist’s atelier for creation.
Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio will provide each selected artist with 300,000 JPY and cover travel cost (up to 150,000 JPY), material fees (max. 100,000 yen) and accommodation (studio).
