The exhibition rescues for its title a poem by Alexandre O'Neill, recognized poet and visual artist, and part of the table as a metaphor and lived reality - a place of encounter, confrontation, communion, drift, and a social space, either in the privacy of the home or in an open and shared space like the public space. "Table of dreams" does not intend to establish itself in a single medium of artistic expression, but to establish dialogues and confrontations between different modes of production and thought. Through the dialogue between the two collections, the viewer is summoned to a plurality of universes and aesthetic, political and poetic issues. Although the two collections have different profiles and dimensions, they come together and complement each other in an exemplary way: Coleção FLAD has a considerable design collection by Portuguese artists, than the Coleção de Serralves, very rich in the same period (1960–2000) , comes to context internationally. "Table of dreams: Two collections of contemporary art" is part of an exhibition program and presentation of works from Coleção de Serralves specifically selected for the exhibition sites in order to make the collection accessible to diverse audiences from all regions of the country .
